Extracting Data from an iTunes Backup on a Mac

There is a free tool that will allow you to access the iOS device's logbook file from the iTunes backup on a Mac. If you only have a PC, then see our FAQ for that here. The tool is called the iPhone Backup Extractor and can be downloaded here.

To get the data, follow these steps:

  • Connect your iOS device to your computer with the USB cable
  • Launch iTunes, then right click (or option-click) on the iOS device and perform a backup.
  • Launch the iPhone Backup Extractor
  • Press the "Read Backups" button
